About Us

We are mountain bikers, developers, and data enthusiasts. Together with our team and partners, we build trailpulse – invisible visitor flow measurement on natural paths.

Our Mission

When discussions about trails and natural spaces become emotional, facts are needed. trailpulse provides objective usage data – without cameras, without personal data – creating the foundation for a constructive, evidence-based dialogue between all stakeholders.

Our goal: enabling informed decisions that balance nature, recreation, and the growing mountain biking boom.

What Drives Us

Privacy by Design

No cameras, no personal data. Our sensors capture exclusively anonymised movement patterns.

Stronger Together

We work closely with communities, tourism boards, and municipalities – for solutions that serve everyone.

Facts Over Emotions

Objective usage data brings discussions back to facts and enables informed decisions for all stakeholders.

Background

trailpulse grew out of the MTB community. As the initiator of MTB Linz, Sebastian Hochgatterer experienced first-hand how difficult it is to advocate for legal trail infrastructure without reliable data. The idea: an invisible counter that delivers objective usage figures – as a basis for constructive conversations with municipalities, landowners, and policymakers.

Today, trailpulse is a product of trailpulse FlexCo, based in Linz, Upper Austria. Supported by the #tourismusinkubator by tech2b and partners such as Upper Austria Tourism, we continue to develop the system.
